It's Nesting Time!

Hurray! I finally have a chance to get started on the nursery! On the weekend R and his BIL moved out all the guest room furniture and took a few truckloads of garbage, recycling, and donation items to the dump. Then R took the doors off the closet and took out the rod and shelf to prepare to paint. I remembered to take some "before pictures" and hopefully very soon I'll have "after" pictures to show off. We've taped the room up and started painting. I can't wait to get working on the murals soon. In the meantime, here are the before pictures.

The Guest Room

The Empty Nursery "Before"

I'm now at 30 weeks. I never thought I'd be this far along and still not have a place for our little one to sleep. I'm sure it will come together much quicker than I think. So in honour of the milestone of having only 10 weeks left, here are my 30 week belly photos. I just had to take one close up of my belly button. It hasn't popped yet, but I think it's on its way.

Wedding and Prenatal Class.

On Saturday, we went to a wedding for a friend of ours. The bride was gorgeous, and the groom was allowed to take his splint off for the pictures. He attempted to catch a wine glass a few weeks ago, but it broke and cut a tendon in his hand. Ouch! It was a long stand up, sit down, kneel ceremony for a pregnant lady, but seeing our friends get married was well worth the temporary pain.

I was very pleased with my choice in dress for the occasion. It fit so nicely and I felt good in it. It feels good to get all dolled up every once in a while.

We had our second prenatal class last night. It was part 2 of 2 in the "Parenting and Postpartum" session. I took loads of notes because the information was very useful. The nurse told us all about the different appearances of newborns and what is normal, though weird looking, versus what we should be worried about. We practiced diapering and learned how to swaddle and bathe our teddy bear (the one from Germany with a belly button that R brought back for me). I was very pleased to learn that our hospital has a "rooming in only" policy and that our little one will be staying with me in the room at all times, including the first bath! They strongly believe that mom and baby need to bond and that the first thing baby should see when they are born is mom and dad! I'm so happy my hospital is so family centred and it made me more excited to go through this journey.

New Hair Cut! Wohoo!

I've been putting it off long enough. It's been six months since my last hair cut and I decided I'd better get down to it. My hair was really starting to bother me. I went back to my old stylist and even though it's a half hour drive, I'm glad I made it. There's something about a new haircut, and a new top that just makes you feel good.

I also bought some wicker baskets today. They were on sale. The colour of the lining wasn't right, but the price certainly was. I got 2 large baskets and 2 small ones for $20 total! I bought some cheap fabric to make new liners for them. Now all I have to do is figure out how to sew. Sorry, no pictures. I'll take some of the finished product.

Hello Third Trimester!

It's here. It's finally here! I can't believe it! I'm in third trimester! The last leg of our journey. It still feels so far off, but my growing belly is proof that we're well on our way. R thinks my belly button is going to pop soon. I have a feeling it's going to be a while. Right now it's just squishing. So, in honour of this milestone, here's a comparison picture:
Beginning of 2nd Tri (14 weeks)

vs the End of 2nd Tri (27 weeks)

And one more picture to end this entry. My new favourite view. Mommie's view from up top!

Height Chart is Complete!

I'm in love. I took my time, and carefully painted on the design for the height chart. Some areas needed a second coat, but in the end, it looks fantastic. I love it! I can't wait to see it up in the room. Now to decide where to put it. Hmm.... Guess it would help if I had the room empty of furniture and painted first. It's only a few more weeks before I can move stuff out and start painting. The countdown has begun!

Height Chart In Progress

I finally found the time to sit down and start my height chart. It took three coats of "falling star" paint to cover the plywood, but it looks great. I even got the "toast brown" border painted and the design and numbers drawn on. Next step? Painting the design! It's going to take a steady hand, but I think it will look fantastic in the end!

Before, and After!

I decided to attempt to take my 26 week bump pic by myself, as I have done for the last little while. I took the first one as soon as I got home from work. While editing it, I noticed it looked like I had shrunk since last week. So, after dinner, I had R take a "post-dinner" bump picture. Um.......Yeah. I guess I eat a LOT at dinner! Who knew Chicken Divan could make that much of a difference?

In other news, my morning drive to work is starting to get a bit uncomfortable. Apparently, this little one likes to kick me in the ribs and punch me all at the same time. Not cool kid, not cool.
